September marks the 5th anniversary of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month and the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” campaign. The point of this initiative is to educate children about health and nutrition and solve the problem of obesity in an entire generation. Mrs. Obama has been dancing her way through the country visiting schools, giving speeches, and building awareness around this totally preventable epidemic. Today, over 9 million children attend “Let’s Move! Active Schools” and participating in 60 minutes of physical activity per day. Around 1.6 million children in daycares
are eating healthier snacks like fruits and vegetables instead of cookies and juice. The movement is growing and more towns are becoming active communities each day. Yay for health!
